PRP Unveils 2027 Primaries Timetable, Fixes Presidential Nomination at ₦20m



The People’s Redemption Party (PRP) has released its timetable and guidelines for the 2026 primary elections ahead of the 2027 general elections, in compliance with directives from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and provisions of the Electoral Act 2026. 

 According to the schedule, the sale of Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms will close on May 10, 2026. Screening of aspirants is slated for May 11 to May 16, while the list of successful candidates will be published on May 17. 

 The party said appeals arising from the screening exercise will be handled between May 17 and May 19. Aspirants are also expected to engage party members and delegates from May 10 to May 23 as part of their campaigns. The PRP has fixed May 24, 2026, for the conduct of its primary elections at the ward level nationwide. 

 Appeals from the primaries will run from May 25 to May 28, while any re-run elections are scheduled for May 29. The final list of candidates is expected to be released on May 30, 2026. 
 As part of its nomination guidelines, the party pegged the presidential nomination fee at ₦20 million, comprising ₦5 million for the Expression of Interest form and ₦15 million for the Nomination Form.

 In a move aimed at promoting inclusivity, the PRP announced a 50 per cent discount on nomination fees for female aspirants, while persons with disabilities will pay 25 per cent of the nomination cost. The party reaffirmed its commitment to conducting a transparent, inclusive and credible primary election process as it positions itself for the 2027 general elections.
