Ekiti Guber: The Use Of Technology Will Curb Vote Buying And Selling -INEC..as INEC promises Credible and transparent election

Ahead of the June 18th 2022 gubernatorial elections in the state, the Independent Electoral Commission(INEC) has solicited the support of Media Organisations in the state towards ensuring a successful exercise.

INEC in a Round table Meeting with Media Executives in Ekiti State held at De Light Hotels in Ado Ekiti on Friday June 3 assured  the participants of the readiness of Inec to curb electoral malpractices such as vote buying, vote selling and other electoral offences  with the use of the new Bimodal,Bvas machines which will checkmate multiple registrations and screen out unqualified voters.

The National Commissioner and chairman, Information and voter education committee (IVEC) Barrister Festus Okoye explained the constitution of the Independent Electoral Commission  while the Special Adviser to the Honor cable Chairman of Inec, Prof. M.J kuna took the observations and questions from the media executives on issues bothering on security, people with disabilities and mode of transmitting results.

Paper Presentations were done by the Chief Press Secretary to the Inec Chairman, Rotimi Oyekanmi, HOD ICT Titilayo Oderinde  while the interactive sessions was chaired by Prof. Bolade Eyinla.

Appeals were made to the media houses to checkmate fake news and and not to rush to break news until it is verified from Inec.

 Responding, the Nigeria Union of Journalist Chairman Lion Rotimi Ojomoyela lauded the media interaction and promised the commission media coverage and cooperation during and after the elections.

Questions,Observations and Advice were later entertained by the Inec officials.
