Ekiti Guber: JDPI,ECE Partners NUJ On Politicians Accountability.....to host Political Parties on Manifesto and Dialogue

Ahead of the June 18 2022 gubernatorial election that will hold in Ekiti state, the Justice, Development and Peace Initiative (JDPI), Ekiti Council of Elders (ECE), and Nigeria Union Of Journalists Ekiti State Chapter is holding a programme where Candidates Contesting on various platforms of Political Parties will present their manifestoes to the general public.

The Programme, which is also the 4th edition will enable journalists and other invited guests to ask Candidates their plans shoulder they be elected.

Speaking during a conference at the NUJ secretariat Oke Bareke Ado Ekiti,  Reverend Father Emmanuel Akingbade on behalf of the JDPI said the Objectives  of the Programme tagged " Manifesto Of Agreement With the People of Ekiti State is in line with the constitution of the 1999 constitution amended sections 221 and 224  that any candidate contesting an election must be sponsored by a political party which it's aims and objectives must conform to the fundamental objectives of the said constitution and this will enable the general public hold such personality responsible and accountable.


Father Akingbade

 maintained that part of the Objectives of the JDPI  is to ensure Security before during and after the elections, participation by the people in their government, to encourage integration whilst prohibiting discrimination on the grounds of place, origin, sex, religion, status,ethnic or linguistic association or ties  and to abolish all corrupt practices and abuse of power.

The Non governmental Organization said it is partnering with the Ekiti council of Elders and the NUJ this time to achieve its purpose  of holding political parties and their candidates true to their word.

In his own  words, the Chairman of Ekiti council of Elders Professor Joseph Oluwasanmi thanked the NUJ for their cooperation and hope for a wide publicity of the Programme  which will take place on Saturday 4th of June 2022 at the Pope John Paul II Pastoral Centre, along Ikere - Ado Ekiti road.

The Programme will commenced by 8:00 am prompt.
