Families of fallen police officers recieves N23.8m welfare packages from Ekiti state command



Families of police officers who sustained injuries and those whon lost their lives in the line of duty have been presented with a welfare monetary package.

 The Commissioner of Police in Ekiti State, CP Joseph Eribo, on Wednesday presented cheques totaling N23,849,554.24 to families and next-of-kin of 27 deceased and injured officers of the Command, in furtherance of the Inspector General of Police Welfare Scheme.

The Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun whom the cheques were presented on his behalf forms part of the Group Life Assurance and Family Welfare support initiatives designed to assist families of officers who died or sustained permanent injuries in the line of duty.

 During the brief event which was held at the Ekiti state police command headquarters, CP Eribo sympathized with the beneficiaries over the loss of their loved ones, describing the fallen officers as heroes who paid the supreme price in service to the nation.

He also reaffirmed the commitment of the IGP to prioritizing the welfare of personnel and their families and that the force leadership will continue to improve existing support systems for officers both in service and posthumously.

He also advised the beneficiaries to channel the funds into meaningful ventures that would sustain their households and honor the sacrifices of the departed officers.

The beneficiaries while expressing their appreciation to the IGP and the Police High Command for the support, noted that the intervention would ease the burden on them as they rebuild their lives.

The Deputy Commissioners of Police, Assistant Commissioners of Police and other top personnel joined the CP during the brief ceremony.
