Cleric Urges Christians to Live Christ-Like Life as Service of Songs Holds for Late Mrs. Bosede Okebiorun

Christians have been urged to imbibe the character of Christ and always remember that heaven remains the ultimate goal of every believer.

This admonition was given during the wake-keep and service of songs held in honour of the late Madam Bosede Okebiorun.

Delivering the sermon at the event, the Shepherd of Ilamoye Baptist Church, Igede-Ekiti, Pastor Adebowale Adebayo, who preached from the Book of Mark 10:17–22, spoke on the topic “What Is Left for You to Do?”

The cleric drew inspiration from the well-lived life of the deceased, noting that Madam Bosede served Christ faithfully until her last breath.

Pastor Adebayo reminded the congregation of the need for constant self-examination and the importance of living a life that would be remembered for good. He also offered prayers for the children and family members she left behind.

Speaking on behalf of the family, one of the daughters of the deceased, Deaconess Aliu Eunice Omolara (née Okebiorun), described her late mother as a deeply prayerful woman who was committed to the education and well-being of her children.

“My mother was a woman who would sacrifice anything to ensure that her children were well taken care of. She prayed for us until her last breath. If I had the opportunity, I would still choose to come back as her daughter,” she said.

Also speaking, Chief Sola Okebiorun paid glowing tribute to the deceased, describing her as an “abiyamo tootọ” (a true mother). He thanked God for granting her the grace to live long enough to reap the fruits of her labour.

The event also featured moments of thanksgiving as the children of the deceased were called out one after another to dance and sing praises to God, joined by family members and well-wishers.

Among the dignitaries present at the occasion were Dare Owolabi, an APC chieftain from Ekiti North; Wole Olujobi, a veteran journalist and Commissioner at the Ekiti State Local Government Service Commission; Adekunle Sunday, Executive Secretary of the Ekiti State Forestry Commission; Adedeji Adesina, a public servant; and Michael Oni, a contractor.

The final burial rites are scheduled to take place on Friday, March 21, in Igede-Ekiti.
