Ekiti NUJ Chairman, Babatuyi, Receives Another Award of Excellence
Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Ekiti State Council, Kayode Babatuyi, has been honoured with yet another award of excellence, this time by the Academic Staff Union of Secondary Schools (ASUSS), Ekiti State Chapter.
Babatuyi, who is also a staff of Radio Nigeria, Progress FM, Ado Ekiti, received the award during the Union’s Gala Night held in Ado Ekiti. The recognition comes barely two weeks after he was similarly celebrated by the Federation of Ekiti State Students Union (FESSU), marking another milestone in his career.
Presenting the award, the National President of ASUSS, Sola Adigun, described Babatuyi as a “thoroughbred professional” whose diligence, creativity and commitment to ethical journalism have distinguished him in the media industry. Adigun noted that Babatuyi’s leadership style as NUJ chairman has continued to reflect integrity and excellence.
Other dignitaries at the event applauded the journalist for his contributions to media development in Ekiti State, urging colleagues in the profession to emulate his hard work, professionalism and dedication to public service.
In his remarks, Babatuyi expressed gratitude to God, his organisation—Radio Nigeria, where he began his career as a SIWES student—and all journalists in Ekiti State. He stated that the honour would further motivate him to remain committed to quality journalism and leadership.
“This award will propel me to do more,” he affirmed.
