Ekiti Police Rapid Response Commander Unveils Two Groundbreaking Security Books
CSP Marcus Ola Ogundola, commander of the Rapid Response Squad of the Ekiti State Police Command, on Saturday launched two new books titled *How to Be an Effective and Efficient Security Personnel* and *Mo Jose Iku Ye*, drawing wide acclaim from security experts, policymakers, and dignitaries.
The books, which draw on Ogundola’s decades of frontline policing experience, address the nation’s ongoing security challenges by offering practical solutions and insights grounded in real-life scenarios.
The launch event in Ado-Ekiti attracted an esteemed gathering, transforming the occasion into a robust discussion on crime prevention and public safety strategies.
Governor Abiodun Oyebanji, represented by Amotekun Commander Brigadier General Olu Adewa (rtd.), praised Ogundola for his commitment to documenting valuable knowledge that benefits both security officers and ordinary Nigerians. Brigadier General Adewa emphasized the importance of security-focused literature that empowers communities to contribute meaningfully to peacebuilding, noting that the books come at a pivotal moment in Nigeria’s security landscape.
Highlighting the current peace in Ekiti State, Brigadier General Adewa underlined the absence of violent herdsmen activities in the region, attributing it to effective security management. A representative of former Governor Ayodele Fayose lauded Ogundola for bridging the gap between theoretical discourse and practical realities within Nigeria’s security sector, pointing out that unlike many who observe insecurity from afar, Ogundola’s books are infused with lived experiences that make them essential reading for young officers, policymakers, and security students.
DCP Iyanse, representing the Commissioner of Police CP Eribo, described Ogundola as a dedicated and gallant officer whose unwavering professionalism has earned widespread respect. Mr. Olamide Oni, former member of the House of Representatives and Commander Agro Marshall, called on policymakers to seriously consider and implement the recommendations presented in the books.
Delivering the official academic review, Dr. Babatunde of Afe Babalola University hailed the books as invaluable texts for intelligence and security studies. He noted their unique focus on real incidents, decision-making challenges, and the emotional dimensions of policing—dimensions often missing from purely theoretical materials—making them significant training resources for future security professionals.
Reflecting on the writing process, CSP Ogundola revealed that the books were the product of late nights, extensive reflection, and a profound commitment to his profession. He explained that *How to Be an Effective and Efficient Security Personnel* emphasizes discipline, operational efficiency, and best practices for security operators, while *Mo Jose Iku Ye* shares personal narratives designed to guide both officers and the public.
Ogundola expressed deep gratitude to the Inspector General of Police, Commissioner Kayode Adeolu Egebetokun, senior police officers, and all supporters, affirming that these publications are his contribution toward building a safer and more informed Nigeria.
