Ondo State LG Elections: Akure South Is Lucky With Hon. Gbenga Fasua

The local government elections in Ondo state has been won and lost and while those who fell short of expectations must have learnt as in the parlance of the political world those who emerged victorious will be counting their gains and of course in the race of life when you win you celebrate and when its otherwise you learn. For the people of Akure South local government, the emergence of Honorable Gbenga Fasua as the elected Chairman of the local government is a manifestation of the vision of the collective shared aspiration of the people. Hon. Gbenga Fasua has been a darling of the people even before he came into the fold of the All Progressives Congress in the Sunshine state. His charisma, influence, brilliance and his profound systematic approach to the issues inclusive governance did not go unnoticed when he contested under the Social Democratic Party for the seat of the Akure South local government Chairman. The massive movement he created did not escape the notice of late Governor Rotimi Akeredolu who alongside some leaders in the party saw him as a great asset to the party and did not hesitate to ensure his arrival and that of his massive followers. Gbenga Fasua did not lobby ,it was a direct asking forwarded by the Governor himself. A golden truly has no hiding place Hon. Fasua shone like the superstart that he was and it was not long before he found himself as the secretary of the local government while he performed credibly to the amazement of everyone.
I remembered when i was in his office when he was the secretary, the humility was top notch his office was open to all infact i dare say his office was turned to a mecca as people trooped in with different challenges he never gets tired to attend to them all. At a time i said to him: when will you have time to rest? He was of the opinion that his office is for the interest of the masses irrespective of their affiliations and of course i witnessed his relationship with the people first hand it therefore did not come as a surprise when he was massively annointed to flag the party's banner in the local government election bearing in mind his hardwork before and during the guber elections which produced Lucky Aiyedatiwa as the Governor of the state. It would not be fair to say the just concluded election was a formality, in the real sense it gave the people of Akure South a chance to express themselves whom they desire to bring in the much deaired grassroot developmemt to their doorstep. The good people Akure south have spoken and have spoken well and they can be rest assured of a robust representation when it comes to grassroots development. Akure south massive votes will not go into the drain they have sowed in good faith and will surely reap bountifully in due time. Idowu Adebomi writes from Ado Ekiti
