DIG Fayoade Leads Security Operations in Ekiti, Assures Peaceful Governorship Election Writing



The Nigeria Police Force has strengthened security arrangements ahead of the Ekiti State governorship election with the deployment of the Supervising Deputy Inspector-General of Police, DIG Fayoade Adegoke Mustapha, and Assistant Inspector-General of Police, AIG Olarenwaju Ogunlowo, to oversee election security operations in the state.

The deployment, approved by the Inspector-General of Police, is aimed at ensuring a peaceful, credible and violence-free electoral process across Ekiti State.

According to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, Ekiti State Command, SP Sunday Abutu, the senior police officers arrived in the state ahead of the election to coordinate and supervise security activities before, during and after the poll.

Addressing police personnel and other security stakeholders, DIG Fayoade emphasized the need for effective collaboration, synergy and mutual support among all security agencies involved in election duties. He urged officers to uphold professionalism, discipline and respect for the rule of law while carrying out their responsibilities.

The DIG also appealed to political parties, candidates, supporters and members of the public to cooperate with security agencies and maintain peace throughout the electoral process.

Assuring residents of adequate protection, DIG Fayoade said the Nigeria Police Force, in collaboration with other security agencies, had put in place robust security measures, including the deployment of sufficient personnel and logistics, to safeguard voters, electoral officials and election materials.

He reaffirmed the commitment of the police and other security agencies to ensuring a secure environment that would enable citizens to exercise their democratic rights without fear or intimidation.

The Ekiti State Police Command urged all stakeholders to remain law-abiding and contribute to a peaceful and successful governorship election.
