It is no longer news that Ekiti State Government honoured a veteran Journalist and Vice Chairman of Ekiti Correspondent chapel, NUJ, Mr Gbenga Sodeinde with Ekiti Tourism Outstanding Media Supporters Award. Mr Sodeinde was presented with the outstanding award by the state government through the Bureau of tourism development during the commemoration of World Tourism day 2024 at Oroke Ewo tourism site, Ilupeju Ekiti in recognition of his unwavering media support of tourism initiatives in Ekiti state. Gbenga Sodeinde's journey in journalism took a different twist when he took interest in promoting Tourism and Culture especially that of Ekiti. Even though members of his media team were unable to attend the event due to other pressing engagements the veteran journalist was elated that his efforts to promote Ekiti state through tourism have not gone unnoticed by the Bureau of Tourism most especially the Director General of the Bureau Ambassador Wale Ojo Lanre who could not help but notice Mr. Sodeinde's selflessness and commitment to the course of projecting and protecting the image of the yoruba race and culture. "This award didnt just come on a platform of gold, it took months of hardwork, resilience not to mention the travels we undertook to places of interest in Ekiti" Idowu Adebomi of the reporters exclaimed joyfully when he heard the news. The love for tourism, culture and tradition of our people prompted him to use his media to promote the Board and by extension the state Government under the leadership of Governor Abiodun Abayomi Oyebanji who has shown interest in putting Ekiti on the world map through tourism in Ekiti. This award is not just for Gbenga Sodeinde but for all Culture and tourism lovers across the country. This recognition will no doubt boost our morale in promoting our culture and traditions even as we hope future awards will cover all the teams names as well.
