Hon. Afuye Ex Ekiti Southern Agenda Crusader Should Know Overtaking Is Allowed In Politics

rior to the Ekiti 2022 Guber Elections which had the incumbent Governor Bidoun Abayomi Oyebanji,(APC) Engineer Segun Oni of SDP, Bisi Kolawole of PDP and a Woman Politician Mrs Elebute Halle all running for the Ekiti State top seat. Then I was reporting for People Of The Fountain(POF T.V) as well as an online blog of my brother Akinwumi James Olamide SkyMedia. I received an invitation to cover a political event at Ikere Ekiti, getting there I realised it was a political rally led by one Honorable Idowu Afuye who was championing a South Agenda cause i.e that all the political parties contesting the elections should and must present their candidates from the South of Ekiti. He was of the opinion that the South is being marginalized and that it is high time the Governorship seat is zoned to the region for equity, fairness and in the spirit of Democracy. Well, we did our job and he did his and the agenda was promoted I remembered Hon. Afuye rained insults and words that should not be on ink on anyone who would betray the agenda he claimed all southern elites were solidly behind him in the struggle. You would imagine my shock one day as I was returning from an assignment few weeks after the rally in Ikere when I stumbled on a poster of Mrs Kemi Halle Elebute the woman contesting for Governor and guess who happens to be her Deputy? You guess right Honorable Idowu Afuye!! I had to call Taiwo my camera man to help me look keenly to be sure my eyes are not playing pranks on me and he confirmed it was the same "Afuye of the South Agenda Struggle" Immediately I told Mr. Alfred Kayode Adegbile that a Mrs Halle Elebute has made a huge mistake by allowing Hon. Idowu infiltrate her camp and that I saw a betrayal coming up. Few weeks to the Election, It was everywhere on the news Hon. Idowu Afuye has dumped Mrs Elebute and joined forces with the camp of BAO!! I laughed my head off eventually when some of the party members came out openly to disown Elebute and Idowu Afuye for playing them like football. I was not surprised when Hon. Afuye alleged that he was being subject of attacks and begged the state Government to give him security and I was like wao!! a Maradona has come to Ekiti Politics. The fact remains that Hon. Afuye dismantled any chance Elebute would have had in the Election, who would vote a party where the Deputy Governor designate already joined another Political party 3 weeks to the Election even though INEC refused to remove his name from the ballot. I was not hurt by his antics of survival but it irks me to see a grown up man finding sincerity very hard to practice so I picked my pen and wrote an Article titled " Afuye: The Maradona of Ekiti Politics" The Article went viral and he was not happy he tried getting in touch but I gave no chance I don't seat with men who behaves worse than toddlers and of course his rating in my book has dropped to zero. Anyways, he released Press statement telling all who cared to listen that I was sponsored by his bittered Boss a woman I have never met even till now. I saw a snippet of the said Article on Mr. Adegbile's phone even though he tried to hid it from me and I was shocked even though I didn't press further because the fact is the man in question has the financial power to buy people Journalists inclusive to his side and of course Election periods are Journalists seasons and anything to have an envelope will do. The elections came and BAO eventually won the keenly contested election and a new dispensation began in Ekiti, Bridges were being rebuilt either politically or socially give it to BAO he sure knows how to bring Political adversaries to himself and so I was not surprised when Hon. Kemi Elebute Halle formally announced her decision to join the Progressives Family to which she was warmly welcomed to the Party. It didn't move me because Mrs Kemi has been fraternising with the Progressives for sometimes now and so to us in the media circle it is no news!! But the news that got me laughing was the sudden blackmailing of Governor Abayomi Oyebanji by Hon. Afuye Infact reading from my brother Comrade Valentino where he openly berated Hon. Afuye to trying to bite the hands that feeds him really got me tumbling off my seat. It was alleged that Hon Afuye felt threatened that his former Boss Elebute was welcome into the Progressive fold and Baba felt his relevance is coming to an end and so he felt betrayed by the APC family. My point here is that maybe Hon. Afuye forgets that in politics their is no permanent enemy or friend and that overtaking is allowed. If he feels he is being betrayed he should remember he first betrayed the woman and moreover, another election is not yet around the corner where another kangaroo struggle can be sponsored. But I want to know the next cash out point of our Southern Agenda crusader who knows the Umbrella party might be the next step..who knows?
